Bonny
Doon Alpacas usually sells animals from it's own breeding program and
from small breeders in Northern California. Occasionally, we
handle small consignments that offer a new genetic line of animals
that will upgrade the overall alpaca gene pool. Such is the
"Special Australian / Peruvian Consignment".
These
animals were imported from Australia under ARI's most stringent
screening practices in late 1998. Each of them passed veterinarian, phenotype and fiber examinations. As a group they
are generally the same color (white or light fawn), but they offer many
fine qualities.
The animals of their parents originated from
four of the better known breeding entities in Peru: Accoyo, Allianza,
Solocotta, and Kenimari. There are approximately twenty animals
currently for sale on the West Coast and ten available in the Midwest.
As a group they are conformationally
strong with excellent fiber quality (including density and fiber regeneration).
There are numerous young males in the group that
have great potential as herd sires. This is a rare chance to
buy from the top Peruvian gene pools and establish your own bloodlines
for reasonable prices.
Below is a partial viewing of this
rare group of Australian / Peruvian alpacas.
